Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began working as a TV and radio reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent by NBC News two year later. She began to cover the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office in 1988. In 1992, she was appointed Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist as well as anchor of the TV show Meet the Press. She participated as a member of the panel during 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her contribution in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered for the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both the terms of President Ronald Reagan. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news stories such as weapons control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of the President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
